June 2019 Update
A municipal fiber utility is currently being designed by Lookout Point Communications and NewCom Technologies. When the design is completed, the process for accepting bids on the project will begin.
Meanwhile the City has been working with financial consultants to develop a financing plan for the network.
It is hoped that contracts for the network can be awarded in late 2019 or early 2020 for construction in 2020.

Feasibility Study
Lookout Point Communications of St. Paul, MN conducted a feasibility study which showed that a community-owned fiber network was financially feasible and sustainable. Based on the favorable results of the feasibility study, the City decided to hire Lookout Point to do design and engineering for a network.
